The Department of English is among the pioneer departments of this University. Currently, the department offers admission in BS English. It provides an encouraging environment for the academic and professional developments of the students. The department of English, along with academic activities, also focuses on the co-curricular dimensions of the students. The Department of English has always been committed to maintain a symbiotic relationship of teaching, research and the larger concerns of society. It offers a wide range of courses in the fields of literature and linguistics. The Department of English is committed to instill the students of the university with academic excellence and moral goodness. The department focuses on the overall development of the students so that the department provides best citizens to the society. In order to meet the modern global demands and trends of teaching and learning, we facilitate our students with qualified faculty as well as with the use of modern technology. As a team in the department, we make a vibrant academic community which is fully poised to expand its students’ linguistic and literary horizons. This is achieved through lectures, workshops, seminars and faculty-student interaction. Our instructors motivate the students to tailor their individual understanding of language and literature, and facilitate them in responding to their academic and pre-professional needs.

To encourage students to converse in English and foster an environment where it becomes the lingua franca of the university
1) To design a course that can help the students of English in improving their reading, writing and listening capabilities.
2) To encourage students to have a sound understanding of English Literature, linguistics and other areas that the subject provide.
